Cornish Silkie Bantams

Welsummers,  french copper marrans, cream legbars and Auraucana

I have had silkies for about 20 years. Why buy your kids rabbits as pets when you can have a couple of silkies in the garden, plus great fresh eggs. My first one used to follow me everywhere even into the kitchen. She used to sit on my knee out in the garden. I found these bantams very useful for eating garden bugs, and to supply me with fresh eggs.  Silkies are renowned for being the best broodies, just leave a couple of eggs in their nest and they will sit.  My last hatch I had, two of them sat on about 29 eggs both in the same nest.  They both brought up the chicks sharing the responsibilities.  I keep, white, black, grey, gold, partridge, splash, and the rare cuckoo.  some are bearded.

I now have a hatching unit where I keep incubators going around the clock and a brooder unit where the hatched chicks go into until about 10 weeks old.  I can hopefully sex them at 6 weeks,  I sell hatching eggs, day old, and adult.

I am also breeding French Copper Marrans lay lovely dark brown eggs.

Welsummers also lay brown eggs, The Cream Legbar and Araucans these lay blue eggs.
